I Probably Shouldn't Be Giving Business Advice...But Here We Are
Everything I Got Wrong About Business So You Don't Have To
I've started a lot of businesses.
Some worked. Some didn't. Some really, really didn't.
Along the way, I lost money, made questionable decisions, trusted the wrong people, chased other people's success and spent far too much time convincing myself that this next idea was finally going to be the one.
It usually wasn't.
But every failed business taught me something.
- About customers.
- About money.
- About marketing.
- About trust.
- About knowing when to walk away.
- And, perhaps most importantly, about the difference between a genuinely good business idea and something that simply sounds like a good idea at two o'clock in the morning.
This isn't a book about overnight success. It's not a step-by-step guide to becoming a millionaire. And I certainly don't claim to have all the answers.
It's the story of what happened when I repeatedly got things wrong — and what I eventually learned from it.
Some lessons cost me a little. Some cost me a lot. A few cost me enough that I probably should have started taking notes sooner.
If you're thinking about starting a business, already running one, or simply wondering why everyone on social media makes entrepreneurship look suspiciously easy, this book is for you.
Because you don't need to make every mistake yourself. I've already made plenty. You might as well learn from them.
